About this site
Welcome to Currents & Wind—a new literary space where I share flash fiction, short stories, and reflections drawn from my experiences as I sail around the world with my wife. I also share updates on the publication journey of my upcoming debut novel Hiva Oa.
I’m Nestor Lopez-Duran, writing under the pen name N.L. Duran. I am a former psychology professor at the University of Michigan, now living on a sailboat named Blue Buddha. We are currently exploring Niue, Tonga, and New Zealand. My writing is inspired by the people, places, and events I've experienced throughout this journey.

Here you will find:
Ocean Tales
Mostly micro and flash fiction inspired by the sea and its creatures.
Harbour Stories
Non-fiction accounts of the places and people I encounter at ports.
Passage life
Casual reflections and descriptions of life at sea
Hiva Oa
Updates on the publication journey of my debut novel Hiva Oa
